Artist Statement
Photographer Xiaohui Feng explores creative photography with a particular focus on the visual expression of cultural elements with on-site multiple exposures.
Transitioning from the film era to digital imagery, she emphasizes the importance of elements and their representation in the context of the contemporary world. She names this process of on-site discovering and composing the elements "境思" (realm thinking).
Her understanding of "multiple exposure" goes beyond simple image combinations; it involves "constructing" the "mystery" formed in an instant between nature, architecture, sculptures, and figures through creative concepts and imaginative space.
The process is completed step by step on-site within half an hour through multiple exposures (the time limit for the completion of a multiple exposure work using the Pentax digital camera's function is set within half an hour).
She emphasizes the "sense of presence" which reflects the essence of photography (elements are within a magnetic field range), and she thinks multiple exposure can form a targeted response to the international context, allowing the world to see and accept a cultural benchmark constructed by comprehensive forms.
